Test Dreame H14 Pro: the wet and dry vacuum cleaner that turns housework into a pleasure!

A little too pompous a title? Granted, it takes a lot to make housework a pleasure! Although for some, it's a way out. But the new Dreame H14 Pro wet/dry vacuum cleaner could well change all that. Just imagine: a vacuum cleaner that does the job for you. It vacuums, it scrubs, it washes. Simply maneuver it to clean wherever you like. Gone are the days of vacuuming and mopping! Let's get on board for a tour of this little technological gem!

Unpacking the Dreame H14 Pro

The Dreame H14 Pro is the latest addition to the vacuum cleaner range from Dreame, a brand that has now made a name for itself in the world of intelligent cleaning. The manufacturer has already released several versions of this upright vacuum cleaner, as we had the opportunity to test version 12 back in the day. Of course, each time, the model gets better and better, with increasingly interesting innovations. One of these can be seen directly on the packaging: the vacuum cleaner lies completely flat. This new feature makes it easier to get under furniture!

Inside, we find the Dreame H14 Pro, whose handle must be assembled. It comes with its charging station, a spare brush and filter, a cleaning brush and a user manual.

And let's not forget a bottle of detergent to help with cleaning.

The first thing that strikes you about the H14 Pro is its design. Elegant and modern, it would not look out of place in a contemporary art museum. But make no mistake, it's more than just a pretty object: it's a real beast of a machine. With its 18 kPa suction power, it's no slouch when it comes to dust removal.

As with previous models, it features a single brush. But this brush is flush with the walls on both sides, unlike other models which have a 1 or 2cm border, leaving a dirty strip. Dreame has worked hard on this technology, and we now have a highly accomplished system.

Note that this brush is also illuminated, which is always handy to better see dirty spots when it's not very bright. A low light also makes it easier to distinguish dirt that can sometimes go unnoticed by the naked eye.

As with its predecessors, the H14 Pro features a clean water tank, and a second tank fitted with a filter to receive sucked-in dirt and dirty water.

Nothing really new here. This new version does, however, offer a tank for detergent, via a cap directly on the body of the vacuum cleaner:

On the handle we find the power and mode selection buttons, as well as a button for automatic vacuum cleaning, at the very top of the handle.

Finally, the H14 Pro still boasts a superb display on top, showing information on its autonomy and cleaning mode.

But the real star of the show is its ability to lie completely flat. The H14 Pro can tilt 180 degrees, allowing it to sneak under furniture like a ninja. No more contortions to reach those dusty nooks and crannies under the sofa! A small wheel has also been added to the body of the device to enable it to slide easily when completely flat.

The docking station is not to be outdone. It has been designed to accommodate the vacuum cleaner and recharge it, of course. But it also automatically cleans the brush and dries it with hot air, to prevent the development of bacteria and unpleasant odours.

In use: performance that takes the hair off (and cleans)

Let's get down to brass tacks: performance. With so many different models on the market, it's hard to keep track. But here, hold on tight, because the H14 Pro doesn't pretend. With its three operating modes (Auto, Ultra and Vacuum), it adapts to any situation.

Auto mode is the Swiss Army knife of cleaning. It automatically adjusts power according to dirt level. Handy when you're too lazy to think. Suffice to say, many will simply leave it on this mode, which does the job perfectly. All you have to do is fill the tank with clean water and detergent, and press the start button. It couldn't be simpler!

Ultra mode is for when you want to do things in a big way. It puts the emphasis on power for deep cleaning. Ideal for stubborn stains or heavily soiled floors.

Finally, the Vacuum mode is the savior of the clumsy. It's specially designed to suck up liquid spills. No more paper towels wasted on mopping up morning coffee!

What really impressed me was its autonomy. With 40 minutes of battery life in Auto mode, the H14 Pro can clean an area of over 150 m² on a single charge. Enough to get around the house without stopping for a recharge.

The new ability to lay the vacuum cleaner completely flat is also very practical. On previous versions, this was not possible. In fact, if you tried to do so, the dirty water tank could leak… On the H14 Pro, no problem at all! Of course, it won't fit everywhere, because even when flat, it's still 14cm thick (just under 10cm for the brush). But it'll still get you into hard-to-reach places, like under beds, for example.

What's more, its lighting proves very practical for this type of area :)

And the icing on the cake? Its self-cleaning system. Yes, you read that right: this vacuum cleaner cleans itself! It uses 60°C hot water to wash the brush, then dries it automatically. Not only does it make house cleaning easier, but it also saves us the sometimes laborious task of cleaning the appliance. What more could you ask for?

Dreame H14 Pro: A connected upright vacuum cleaner

A little novelty too: thanks to a Wifi connection, this new model is now integrated with the Dreame mobile app, to add a few interesting settings.

Simply install the app and create an account if you haven't already done so. And if you're already using one of the brand's robot vacuum cleaners, or even the robot lawnmower, you'll find everything in the same app, which is pretty handy!

Via the app, it will be able to benefit from updates to improve its functions:

First look at the settings, to switch it to French. Indeed, this model has always benefited from voice info to inform us of its status during operation. While previous models had a button on the device to change the language, this time you'll have to do it in the application. You can select French and set the desired volume.

The app also gives access to a number of other settings, such as traction force and detergent dosage.

It is also possible to select the cleaning mode and adjust suction power and water flow:

Finally, an interesting option is the possibility of programming the cleaning time and the fast or silent mode, if you don't want to be bothered by the noise of cleaning. It has to be said that drying, although very discreet, still leaves a slight background noise in a quiet room, and the possibility of programming this automatic cleaning when you're away is a good idea.

The verdict: a vacuum cleaner worth the detour

So, what do we think of this Dreame H14 Pro? Well, to cut a long story short: it's a heavyweight! (Well, in a manner of speaking, because at 5.7 kg, it's still pretty light for a vacuum cleaner in its category).

What particularly appealed to me was its versatility. Whether it's for a quick clean-up after dinner or a major weekend cleaning session, it's up to the task. Its ability to lie flat is a real plus for reaching hard-to-reach areas. And its self-cleaning system is the icing on the cake!

Of course, it's not perfect. Its weight, although reasonable, can be a little uncomfortable for some users. And it must be said that the price, which flirts with 700€, is a bit steep. But quality comes at a price, doesn't it? After all, at this price, it might be wise to think about whether to invest in such an appliance, or rather a robotic scrubber, which will do all the work by itself. It's worth thinking about, especially as the manufacturer also offers some very good appliances in this field!

If you don't want the robot, the Dreame H14 Pro is an excellent choice for those looking for a high-performance, innovative vacuum cleaner. It really simplifies floor cleaning and saves precious time. And frankly, who doesn't want to spend less time cleaning?
