Nuki improves the automatic opening function of its connected lock!

The Nuki smart lock is one of my favorites! Easy to install, reliable, and really practical for everyday use, especially with its new fingerprint keypad! Yet the manufacturer continues to improve it, adding or enhancing certain features. This is particularly the case with automatic opening, which can now be customized for each user. Automatic door opening has always been the most popular feature among Nuki smart lock users. It must be said that it's particularly practical when you come home with your hands full, whether it's with groceries or the little one who fell asleep in the car. With the latest app update, the lock's opening delay can now be adjusted so that the door opens with a longer or shorter delay. Users can therefore adjust the Auto Unlock function so that the door opens exactly when desired. How does it work? To ensure the front door magically opens as soon as you approach, Nuki uses both geolocation and Bluetooth. Nuki draws a virtual circle with a radius of 100 meters, called a geofence, around the Smart Lock's location. If this invisible boundary is crossed from the outside, the Nuki app begins actively searching for the lock's Bluetooth signal. Since the practical range of Bluetooth is relatively short (a few meters), the smartphone and the lock must be close. Establishing a stable connection between the mobile phone and the lock then triggers the door to open. Ideally, this happens exactly when the owner is standing right in front of the door. Automatic opening is particularly practical when you have your hands full. When the door opens too quickly.

Sometimes the Bluetooth connection is established too early and Nuki opens the front door before you arrive at it. For example, if you live in an apartment, you're quietly taking the stairs and you already hear the door unlocking, even though there's still one floor to go. A similar situation occurs when a parking space near the front door opens while you're still seated in the vehicle. Such situations are now a thing of the past. Users have a new setting called “Auto Unlock Speed” in the Auto Unlock settings. In addition to the standard setting, users can select a longer or shorter delay according to their needs.

While this addition may seem like a minor detail, it was highly requested by some, particularly apartment dwellers, to avoid having their door ajar when they weren't yet on the correct floor.
