CES is off to a quiet start in Las Vegas with the first product announcements. As we do every year, even though we're unfortunately not physically present this time, we'll be covering the new products that particularly interest us in our field. Unsurprisingly, one of the first announcements concerns an energy management app: the Wiser app from Schneider Electric, which also received an Innovation Award Honoree at CES 2023! With this app, homeowners can easily monitor and manage their energy consumption, forecast their expenses, and set budgets to reduce their bills while contributing to a more sustainable future. Homeowners around the world are facing significant energy challenges, including rising rates, energy shortages, power quality, and the global climate crisis. The situation is even more complex given that homes account for 20% of global carbon emissions. To effectively address these challenges, homeowners need innovative solutions to make their homes more sustainable, while managing energy consumption, maximizing efficiency, and ensuring reliable and cost-effective power without compromising comfort.
“Consumers recognize the importance of sustainability in the face of climate change. They also feel the impact of rising energy costs and the importance of reliable energy as they spend more and more time at home.”
Fortunately, digital tools are now available and can be easily implemented to help consumers address these energy challenges at home. We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from CES for the Wiser home energy management app, which brings new levels of visibility and control to homeowners, simplifying energy management to make their homes more sustainable and efficient. ”Yifu Qi, Executive Vice President of Home & Distribution at Schneider Electric https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PiqWBisMB0 Truly Smart Home Energy Management
With just a few taps, homeowners can easily monitor and manage their energy consumption, forecast their spending, and set budgets to lower their bills while contributing to a more sustainable future:
Energy Usage Insights
:
Homeowners can monitor their energy consumption in real time to see exactly how it's being allocated. This allows them to easily identify devices that are consuming energy unnoticed or that are consuming more energy than expected. With this information, they can quickly make decisions to optimize their consumption. As electricity bills rise, knowledge, tools, and control over a home's energy consumption have never been more important.

- Optimized Electric Vehicle Charging:This app also controls the new EVlink Home Smart electric vehicle charging station. This takes savings and sustainability to a new level by charging an electric vehicle when a home's electricity consumption and electricity costs are lowest. For example, if a consumer needs to charge their vehicle overnight for the morning, they simply plug it in when they get home, and the Wiser app will automatically start charging at a specific time when prices are lowest. This will allow them to avoid higher rates when energy demand is high on the electricity grid. Load Balancing
- :Thanks to its built-in intelligence, the Wiser app automatically balances loads, ensuring homeowners don't run out of power at critical times, such as when cooking and charging their electric vehicle at the same time, which can happen with other systems. When the system detects other devices charging, such as an oven or cooktop, the electric vehicle's charging is automatically slowed or even paused, allowing the homeowner to cook without having to adjust their system. And when their meal is ready, the Wiser app allows the electric vehicle's charging to return to full speed. Prioritize green energy.
- Wiser can provide the greenest energy available by prioritizing electrical loads when renewable energy is available. Given the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions from homes, this feature is particularly practical.Of course, this app relies on Schneider Wiser equipment installed in the home. You can find more information about the Schneider smart home on the official website.
