Fossibot F3600 Review: A Monstrous Battery That Can Power Your Entire House!

We've already had the opportunity to discover several models of portable batteries, or “powerstations.” These devices are really practical for camping, on the go, at work, or as a backup power source at home in case of a power outage. The Fossibot F3600, which we're going to discover today, is particularly suited to the latter, thanks to its 3840 Wh capacity and 3600 W power, capable of peaks up to 7200 W. It's a powerhouse, and the largest battery of this type I've had the opportunity to test so far! It was particularly useful this winter, during a few power outages, but also to cope with those notorious Tempo red days, which are incredibly expensive :) So, let's discover it without further ado…Unboxing the Fossibot F3600Upon receiving the Fossibot F3600, the first thing that strikes you is the solidity of its packaging. The battery arrives in a thick cardboard box, well protected by foam inserts to prevent damage during shipping. The protective foam is impressive… This attention to detail ensures that the battery arrives in perfect condition, ready to use.

Opening the box reveals several carefully organized components:

The Fossibot F3600 battery: This is, of course, the centerpiece, imposing in size and weight.

Car charging cable: Convenient for charging the battery while traveling in a vehicle.

XT90 solar charging cable: Essential for those who want to use solar panels.

  • User manual: Includes detailed instructions for battery use and maintenance.
  • Cable storage bag: A handy addition to keep all cables organized and easily accessible.
  • A battery cover: Allows for weather protection if needed.
  • Flashlight: A flashlight with a USB charging cord is included. It has a built-in battery compartment.
  • The Fossibot F3600 stands out for its robust, industrial design. It's encased in a reinforced plastic housing, resistant to impacts and harsh conditions. The leather handles and industrial-grade casters make it easy to transport, despite weighing only 42 kg.
  • The sturdy wheels and extendable handle allow the battery to be moved like rolling luggage, which is particularly useful on uneven (or otherwise) terrain.

The telescopic handle is hidden on the bottom of the battery.

The connectors are particularly extensive: three 230V outlets, four USB-C ports (including one 100W port) and two USB-A ports, a cigarette lighter socket, an XT60 socket, and two DC5521 ports!

As usual, a small switch accompanies each group of outlets, allowing you to activate only the outlets you need and thus save battery life.

Also note the input power adjustment button, as we already saw on the

Fossibot F2400

. Here, it can be adjusted between 400 and 2200W! At maximum power, the battery can charge in just 2 hours, which is quite impressive for a battery of this size! Above these connectors is the clear LCD screen, which displays all the necessary information such as battery status, input and output power, and remaining charge or discharge time.On the back of the Fossibot F3600, we have the charging ports, either from the mains, via solar panels, or even the cigarette lighter via the included adapter.

The back also has an integrated LED light, as well as a slot for the flashlight:

The flashlight is magnetic and integrates directly into the battery. Always handy to know you have a light available in case of a power outage :)

We would have liked it to charge by induction when placed on the battery. But no, you'll need a USB-C cable (included) to recharge it.

It does, however, have a light strip to illuminate a wide area, and a flashlight section to illuminate further, with three power levels:

The integrated LED light is quite bright (3W), but may be less practical due to its relatively low position.

On the sides, large fans are provided to cool the system. They will only activate when the battery is heavily charged or discharged, and you won't hear them most of the time.

The top is completely flat, so you can use the battery as a seat or to rest things on.

The bottom is equipped with sturdy rubber feet for careful placement of the battery:

Inside all of this are stored LiFePO4 batteries, which ensure a long lifespan and increased safety, with more than 6,500 charge cycles before dropping to 80% of their initial capacity, which represents around twenty years at a rate of one charge/discharge per day! This is the top of the technology today for this type of battery, many competitors offer “only” 3,500 cycles. As mentioned above, they provide a range of 3,840 Wh, which is enormous! And the battery is capable of outputting a power of 3,600 W, with peaks of up to 7,200 W (for devices that require a lot of power at startup, for example). It is therefore capable of powering a wide range of devices, from the smallest gadgets to more energy-hungry household appliances. Comparing the F3600 with the F2400…

In terms of safety, the Fossibot F3600 is equipped with a Battery Management System (BMS) and an MPPT charge controller to ensure safe and efficient use.

The Fossibot F3600 in Use

But the ability to lower the charging power can also be very practical. First, because charging is quieter. Second, because it allows, for example, the potential absorption of excess solar production. At home, for example, with my solar stations, I sometimes have excess production. If I have, for example, a 400W surplus, I set the Fossibot to 400W input, which allows it to charge for free by absorbing this excess.

The Fossibot F3600 excels in its ability to power a variety of devices. I tested the battery in different scenarios: powering small electronics like smartphones and laptops, but also more power-hungry devices such as a microwave and a drill. In all circumstances, the F3600 provided stable power without showing any signs of overcharging. In fact, it even manages to remain perfectly silent, with its fans only really activating when drawing a lot of power, above 2000W.

One of the most obvious uses of the Fossibot F3600 is as a backup power source in the event of a power outage. Thanks to its UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) functionality, the battery can automatically take over in the event of an outage, ensuring that your critical devices remain powered. For example, during a power outage, the F3600 can keep a refrigerator running, preventing the loss of perishable food. In addition, it can power lights, computers, and Wi-Fi routers, ensuring minimal disruption to your daily life.

Two use cases for me:

in the event of a power outage. Living in Sologne, it's unfortunately not uncommon for a tree to fall on the power lines and leave us without power for several hours, or even several days, depending on the severity of the damage. This battery allows me to continue living “normally” and powering my freezers and refrigerator without resorting to a noisy generator.Being an EDF Tempo subscriber to optimize my electricity bill, I use this battery to power my home during peak days, thus avoiding having to use the EDF grid and the prohibitive rates on those days. It can easily be recharged overnight during off-peak hours, to take over at 6 a.m. when peak hours return. The output power can meet most needs! With a pure sine wave signal, it's easy to connect any device, even the most sensitive ones, such as computers.

A valuable addition, the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) feature allows the F3600 to automatically take over in the event of a power outage, protecting connected devices such as refrigerators and computers. The transition to the Fossibot battery takes less than 10 milliseconds, without any visible interruption on connected devices. This Fossibot F3600 battery stands out for its versatility and impressive capabilities, making it suitable for a variety of scenarios. Whether for outdoor activities, home needs, or professional use, the F3600 is ready to take on any challenge. For events held at home, such as backyard parties or family reunions, the Fossibot F3600 can power audio equipment, lighting systems, and even kitchen appliances. For example, you can use the battery to power an electric barbecue, a projector for outdoor movie nights, and speakers for music, creating the perfect ambiance without having to worry about power outlets.

For professionals working on construction sites, the Fossibot F3600 offers a robust solution for powering a variety of power tools. Its ability to deliver 3600W of continuous power with peaks up to 7200W means it can run drills, power saws, air compressors, and other essential equipment without overloading.

  • In emergency situations, the Fossibot F3600 can be a lifesaver. For example, in the event of a natural disaster or prolonged power outage, it can power essential medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, health monitors, and infusion pumps, ensuring that necessary medical care remains available.
  • It can also ensure that communication systems, such as telephones and radios, remain operational, which is crucial for staying informed and communicating with emergency services. Additionally, it can power security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring the continuous protection of your home or workplace.

In short, the use cases are numerous. Due to its capacity and power, this battery is capable of meeting a wide range of electrical needs.

Final point: the lack of a mobile app. Like the F2400 model we saw previously, this battery doesn't have a mobile app to control it. This isn't a big deal, since all the controls are available directly on the battery, including the input power adjustment. And as we've already mentioned, this type of battery is supposed to last more than 10 years. There's no guarantee that mobile apps will be supported until then. So, there's no risk of ending up with limited functionality due to an app disappearing from the app stores.

Conclusion

The Fossibot F3600 stands out as a choice solution for those needing a portable and reliable power source. Its large capacity, combined with its high power and advanced features like UPS and fast charging, make it particularly suitable for a multitude of uses. Whether for camping, home emergencies, or construction site work, the F3600 offers unparalleled performance. Despite its weight and lack of battery expandability, its many advantages make it a worthwhile investment for long-lasting and secure portable power.
